Support for Employers

Status Employment has 20 years experience of successfully supporting people with disabilities into sustainable employment.

A successful job match occurs when both the candidate and the employer feel supported and equipped, when the candidate is able to carry out the job to the best of his or her ability and to fulfil the expectations of the employer.

We offer a number of different services to employers.

Do you have a job vacancy?

Status Employment works closely with each of the candidates that come to us looking for work. Before we start supporting them to look for a job, they are allocated an Employment Consultant who will spend four to six weeks getting to know the individual, their skills and aspirations. By spending this time, we can then put them forward for jobs that match their strengths and job preferences.

We currently have a number of employers who send us details of their job vacancies as they arise. If you have a vacancy please email us the details. An Employment Consultant will only put a candidate forward if they are sure they match the requirements for the job. If we do not feel that we have anyone, then we will not put anyone forward. Unlike agencies, we are FREE even if you do employ our candidate.

Are you just about to employ someone with a mental health problem?

Once one of our candidates has been offered a job, our support doesn't stop. Along with our candidate and their future line manager we agree a Support Strategy which sets out the requirements of the job and the best way that the candidate can be supported to enable him or her to meet those requirements.

We will remain in contact in those first weeks and months, until the candidate has settled into the job and is confident in carrying out his or her duties to meet the expectations of his or her line manager.

Do you need support with retaining a current member of staff who has a mental health problem?

Occasionally, Status Employment is asked to help with an existing employee who has taken a leave of absence due to sickness, or who's performance or ability to carry out the tasks of the job has diminished.

In this situation, Status Employment has experience in working with both candidates and employers to achieve an acceptable outcome. This might mean agreeing a gradual reintroduction back to work if the candidate has been off work for a while, or possibly negotiating a change in hours, days or tasks to enable the candidate's performance to increase.

Are you able to provide work experience placements for our candidates?

We use short term work experience placements for a number of different reasons. They enable the Employment Consultant to see their candidate in action and help to decide the type of work that would be suitable. Work experience can also be a valuable way of allowing an employer to see the candidate's skills that maybe don't show up on a CV. In this way they can be treated as a 'practical interview'.

If you do feel that you might be able to offer some Work Experience, from 1/2 a day to several weeks, please get in contact.
